Cat Litter Boxes

House owners with cats will readily attest to the joys of pet ownership. However, when it comes to the litter field, there is little joy. Fortunately, there may be one solution that may have you spending less time bending over the litter box – The Computerized Cat Litter Box. The automated cat litter box can be a cat owner’s finest friend. That is a result of it eliminating the need for the pet owner to frequently clear up the litter box.

The automated cat litter box is a modification of the normal cat litter field. It is a simple field containing litter where the cat is supposed to deposit its urine and stool whenever it needs to. The difference is that it is motorized and cleans the field after the cat uses the box. Currently, there are various manufacturers that make automated cat litter containers, and every product advertises of various options that boast to topple the current merchandise in the market.

Automatic vs. conventional cat litter box

Needless to say, there are options which are present in the automated version and not in the traditional one. That’s because the automated cat litter box is a modern-day modification of the outdated cat litter box. Nevertheless, a number of pet cat owners want the old cat litter box for many reasons. One, the old cat litter box does not require electrical energy. Therefore, it could perform even when there’s a power interruption.

Second, the standard cat litter field is economical and cheaper. It is also less expensive to maintain. The traditional cat litter field consumes much less space compared to the modernized model, and may be easily bought within the market. In contrast, there are way more advantages in getting the automated cat litter box. For one, as a result of it’s being electrically operated, there is no need for manual efforts in maintaining the device. As an illustration, the normal outdated cat litter field must be cleaned of waste clumps constantly. The automated cat litter box doesn’t require often scooping of waste clumps to separate waste and clean litter. All that is required of the owner of the automated version is just to replenish the litter every so often.

The computerized cat litter box de-clutters itself of the waste clumps consisting of urine and stool. There is a particular sifting course performed by the machine that handles the task for itself rather than needing the pet proprietor to scoop out those clumps. This sifting course automatically begins once the machine detects the necessity for de-clumping. Some house owners fear that the machine might begin the sifting course while the cat is still inside, making the elimination exercise traumatic for the cat. But the truth is that the automatic cat litter box is sensible in that it will detect the presence of the cat prior to the sifting process and not start until the cat has left the box.

Savings

Some feel the automatic cat litter box could be extra expensive compared to the standard counterpart. However, the device does not require an excessive amount of electrical consumption and the notion that it consumes a big quantity of energy to boost your utility bill is a misconception. The automatic cat litter field further ensures that the cat’s waste will not produce undesirable odor. You can also be able to travel for a couple of days without worrying that the cat will create too much waste once you’re gone.

Other than that, the comfort afforded by the machine makes it far better than the standard version. So if you are bout to make that investment, don’t hesitate to buy the automatic cat litter box. You will certainly like it. And your cat will, too.

Cat Litter Tray

Well right here is one endeavor I am sure a whole lot of cat pet owners will be capable of relating with me: cat litter. Boy am I glad that cats are among the neatest house pets one can have – I can hardly imagine having to shout at a pet cat for the “mess” he made on the floor. Cats have an intuition to bury their feces in the sand or litter while fastidiously not having their fur come in contact with it. That is why a house cat really needs cat litter trays – not solely to maintain things clean, but also to allow them to practice their natural behavior. After all, you do not need them to be making accidental messes on their sleeping baskets and beds, kitchen floors, carpets and the like either.

There are a number of sorts of cat litters that one can use. There is the clay variant together with biodegradable kinds and other types. It can be difficult to select the right one that fits your needs. In my case, I own a half-breed male Persian cat, my baby, Crumpet. Because of his long furry hair and constant shedding, I selected a litter sort that makes the least mess. In this way, he will not spread the litter around the house. (I can hardly think about what would happen if I used a sand-like material for the box! Yikes!) I additionally wanted to be sure that the litter absorbs a great quantity of the odor so as not to annoy any of the other people in the house, particularly my husband, of course.

I also put the cat litter trays in familiar areas around the house for Crumpet. As an example, while he is allowed in the master bedroom, we don’t put one there or he might get used to going potty in our room! I selected to place them in the areas where he largely goes: in the lounge next to his sleeping baskets and beds, within the downstairs bathroom and outdoors in our yard…the spot we have a roofed space, so he does not decide to bury his feces within the dirt every time he is outside. The previous owner of Crumpet also instructed me that he preferred darker areas – so all these potty locations for my cat are somewhat shaded. I assume cats need some privateness too!

I heard from a number of my buddies, who additionally own cats, as well as pet shops, that kittens who have been reared by a home educated mother cat are preferable in this regard. These kittens are already used to the sight of cat litter trays and they are not taught to mingle in the dirt whatsoever. I didn’t have this drawback as I bought Crumpet already over 5 years of age from his previous owner. This makes lots of sense though – and thus ask about the kitten you are about to acquire in this regard. I feel this type of training also holds true for water fountains, kitty baskets and beds, catnip and other pet accessories.

Litter Clean Scoopable Cat Litter

Well, you have bought about as many types of litter bins available on the market as you possibly can suppose exist. There are boxes which might be easy, open pans, bins which might be lined, ones that have second “bottoms” where you possibly can shake out soiled clumps so that you don’t have to scoop, electronic litter bins, and the record goes on.

First and foremost, it must be simple to clean. That’s in all probability the most important consideration. In fact, if your kitten is very tiny, you are going to want to get one thing at the very least quickly that’s both very small or has a cut down side so that even the smallest of kittens can get in. This, after all, will change as your kitten grows, since nearly every full-grown cat can jump in a typical litter field, but it is going to be one thing you need at the start. Bear in mind, cats by their very nature are very clean creatures and wish an excruciatingly clear field at all times. However it’s not solely good for the cat, it is good for you as well. Not only does this enable you to control odor in your own dwelling, but it would help encourage kitties to be “faithful” to their box so that you’re not cleaning up messes elsewhere.

The most cheap and but sensible technique to keep your cat field clean at all times might be to use scoopable litter. There are lots of totally different varieties of scoopable clumping litter in the marketplace, many very fairly priced. What makes scoopable litter a good choice for many cats is that it may be poured to a depth of a number of inches within the field, but the litter itself by no means will get “dirty.” As an alternative, waste is immediately encapsulated in exhausting clumps, so that they are often simply scooped out. Because of this your total box stays endlessly clean for probably the most half, saving you the chore of having to clean out your litter box quite a lot of times during a 12 months period, so long as you are devoted about scooping it several instances a day.

Just about any cat box will do for a scoopable litter, however for each aesthetic purposes and since cats like privacy, a hooded field is probably the best option for many cats. Which means that the sight of the litter box itself is kept out of view, and it will probably scale back litter scatter as well. The field itself ought to be no less than 6 to eight inches deep, extra in case you have a number of cats or in case your cat could be very large. This sort of box is available in both common and further-massive sizes. A few of these boxes include a second “backside” that’s really a grate you may pull up and sift clumps out with, but oftentimes, these are extra hassle than they’re worth as a result of being messy to use. Merely getting a good heavy-duty scoop (made from metal instead of plastic) is a greater option for many people.

Of course, there are rather more cheap options, and even a easy small dishpan will do in case your cat is small and you plan to change litter often. If you happen to choose an uncovered litter box, it is best to in all probability to keep it well out of the way, since in some instances, sights and smells from it can be unsavory. It is particularly useful if you have a basement or some other out-of-the-way place where you plan to maintain the field, as a substitute of someplace comparable to the toilet that gets a lot of traffic. In this case, it may be helpful to make use of litter field liners (or as a much more inexpensive possibility, rubbish bags). Through the use of liners or garbage bags to line your box with, you should use a really small amount of litter in your small litter pan, but change it every day. This is really no more expensive than scooping litter day by day is, but it means that you don’t have to scoop it and might simply change the entire box frequently.

Finally, there are some comparatively newfangled electronic litter containers in the marketplace that some cat house owners swear by. They are convenient as a result of them mechanically scooping soiled litter clumps out of the pan and right into a receptacle as quickly as your cat leaves the box. The downside is that they are fairly costly (usually over $a hundred as compared to beneath $20 for most coated litter boxes), they’ll break down, and a few cats could also be so spooked by the automated rake used to comb the clumps of litter out of the box that they will not go in the field, which renders it useless. You need to additionally buy an excellent high quality scoopable clumping litter to use with these boxes, since cheaper clumping litters produce clumps that break open, thus soiling all the box and the rake as well, so that it’s important to scrub it out.

Premium Choice Flushable Scoopable Cat Litter

If you’ve got cats, no doubt you recognize that keeping the litter field clean is among the largest chores you face. And the odor could be a constant downside no matter what you do. To this end, marketers have tried to come up with ways that can make this chore easier. Certainly one of these ways is utilizing flushable cat litter. Flushable litter are convenient for owners because they are an alternative to getting to dispose of clumping or different forms of litter in waste receptacles. You’ll be able to merely flush it down the bathroom and do away with smell and mess in a single instant. Certainly, this could be a nice convenience for many cat owners.

Also these litters are often lighter in texture. Sometimes, the cost is roughly the same as different sorts of litters in price per use. They could appear dearer due to their lighter weight (for instance, if regular clumping clay prices 20 cents a pound and the flushing sort costs three times that, this appears more expensive, however you should keep in mind that it’s going to weigh much less per use and thus can go farther). They are often exhausting to search out as well, but availability of the Web makes buying this a relatively minor downside, since house owners can have it shipped to them if it’s not available in their area.

However, you need to know that this has its drawbacks as well. One of these is that you simply alternate contributing to landfill waste with used litter, for water waste and additional sewage. Subsequently, it might not be any more environmentally sound than simply disposing of used litter within the trash. Its benefit is that as a result of the soiled mess being flushed instantly, there’s usually much less lingering box odor. As well as, some varieties of litter might be composted as soon as dried stools are removed. This can be the way in which to have the least environmental impact out of your cat’s box.

One other consideration with utilizing flushing versus standard litter is your cat’s “opinion” of the litter itself. Many cats are so used to the common texture and feel of clay that they will not use the flushing type. In this case, of course, crucial consideration is whether or not your cat will use the box at all. You need to keep cautious watch to see in the event you cat does or doesn’t like the flushable litter. You might be able to get her or him to make use of it in the event you began by mixing a small amount of the flushing litter in with your cat’s common litter (without flushing this at first, after all, but disposing within the trash as normal) and gradually increasing the quantity of flushable litter and reducing the amount of the clay until you’re using 100% flushable. Even with any such a “break-in” interval, some cats never get used to the flushing kind and will solely stick with tried-and-true clumping variety. Nonetheless, in case your cat does prefer it, it could be a viable alternative for you.

In short, should you have a cat, your litter field use is going to have some environmental affect that can be detrimental. Nonetheless, flushable cat litter can give you a a lot “cleaner” option to handle waste than different traditional types. As a result them being flushed and not needing to be thrown away within the trash, it generally makes for a lot less smell and mess than conventional clays do. The choice is yours, and as at all times, you must make the best one possible for your way of life and preferences. Just bear in mind your cat will likely have the final say.

Automatic Cat Litter Boxes

For some cat owners, scooping up and cleaning up their cat’s litter field is an awful chore, particularly for men. Then considering using computerized cat litter containers is particularly attractive. Nevertheless, automated cat litter containers are much more costly than the traditional manual litter box, usually costing at the very least $50 each. There is additionally a maintenance cost – some folks report spending an extra $10 to $20 every month buying substitute trays. These self cleansing litter containers will not be always appropriate for cat litter training. Under are some questions often asked about these excessive-tech computerized kitty litter:

1. I’ve already litter educated my cat, but I am getting tired of cleaning up the litter everyday. Will self cleansing cat litter packing containers help me?

Possibly. Computerized litter packing containers will scoop the cat poop into a separate compartment and rake the remaining litter to forestall cat pee from puddling up. You continue to have to get rid of the dirty litter each one or two weeks, and replace the used litter.

Cats tend to be quite finicky creatures. There’s a strong risk that when you change their litter field, chances are you’ll have to go through the entire cat litter training course again.

Some of these self cleaning litter packing containers additionally require specific types of litter to work correctly, for instance a particular model of crystal cat litter or clumping cat litter. Will your cat use one of these litter?

Also, be aware that some cats completely refuse to make use of these computerized litter boxes. In the worst case, you could have to retrain your cat twice – once to make use of the automatic device, and once more to revert to the outdated guide litter box.

You may need to purchase your litter box from a store with a lenient return policy, particularly in the event you buy one of the costly models. If your cat doesn’t like the new litter box, you possibly can return it.

2. I heard that automated kitty litters are noisy and may scare my cats away. Is this true?

It is true that they tend to be noisy. Some persons are sensitive to noise, especially at night. In case your cat goes potty in the midst of the evening, the machine will activate. Depending on your noise tolerance and the place you positioned the field, this may occasionally disturb you.

Will kitty be scared off? Frankly, that is dependent upon your cat. Some cats are simply fascinated by these items, and will by no means want to use an odd litter field ever again.

Other cats take some time to get used to their computerized cat litter bins, and may go through litter training again before they begin to use these new self cleansing litter boxes.

I have heard of accidents involving lengthy haired cats, the place they get caught within the device and turn out to be completely frightened of utilizing any kind of enclosed litter box ever again.

There are also studies of some manufacturers of computerized cat litter, where the design attracts cats to pee or spray on their sensors. Clearly, this rapidly damages the litter box.

3. How long do self cleaning cat litter bins last? Do they get spoiled rapidly?

This depends on your luck. There isn’t any normal consensus on any explicit brand which is more reliable or much less dependable than the rest. Some folks have used theirs for nearly a decade, while others had to return or throw away theirs in just a few weeks.

Someone did notice that the oblong-formed automatic cat litter are inclined to have fewer issues in comparison with the spherical or other odd-formed boxes.

Unfortunately, price appears not to have any relation to reliability.

4. What’s the best cat litter to make use of with these computerized litter boxes?

It is best to comply with the manufacturer’s instructions. Nonetheless, most require both crystal cat litter or clumping cat litter.

Some owners find that the manufacturer’s recommendations are wrong. In case your litter box doesn’t work nicely with the advisable litter, it’s possible you’ll need to experiment with a different kind before giving up.

5. The maintenance value is expensive – how can I cut costs? Does it use plenty of electrical energy?

Some older fashions might have needed extra energy, but the newer models are extra efficient. You shouldn’t notice any vital increase in your annual electrical bill.

The major value is in replacing the tray and the litter. Most computerized cat litter bins require you to purchase a new tray with some particular brand of kitty litter.

Some homeowners have successfully saved a great deal of cash by re-using the tray. In addition they use a cheaper model of cat litter, though sticking to the same type, e.g. if the recommended brand is a crystal litter, then they use a less expensive crystal litter brand.

Someone reported that she used small trash luggage to line the tray – this allowed her to re-use the tray even more often.

As you’ll be able to see, automatic cat litter containers aren’t for everyone. For now, there isn’t any clear leader to recommend. In case your cat has already been litter trained, you shouldn’t make any changes.

Silica Dust Cat Litter

Silica cat litter is among the newest sorts of cat litter on the market. What makes it different is that it may take in and “dry” many occasions its weight in liquid, and thus enormously scale back and even get rid of cat field odor. You simply put litter in the cat field to the depth of about one inch. Because the cat uses the box, the liquid waste is absorbed and then “dried” in order that no scent remains and the letter itself remains dry. Strong waste is basically “petrified” and is eliminated commonly by scooping it out and flushing or disposing of it.

The largest advantage is that a single inch value of litter can last up to two weeks or even a month for a single cat. Because of this, many house owners swear by one of these litter since it makes litter box maintenance so much easier. However, there are drawbacks and issues, particularly in regard to the well being of your cat.

First of all, silica litter can be sharp and rough on your cat’s toes when she or he uses the litter box. Though manufacturers have tried to handle this concern by purportedly giving subsequent litters a “softer really feel,” the priority nonetheless remains. As well as, some fear that cats could ingest small particles of this silica (which is much like glass in terms of the way it capabilities internally) after they clean themselves, and ingestion of silica may be very unhealthy. Finally, a third concern is that it isn’t wholesome for litter to remain unchanged for as much as a month’s time. Unlike clumping litter the place all waste is eliminated in strong form, with silica, solid “petrified” waste is removed, however liquid waste together with urine and the liquid from feces stays in the litter itself and is merely “dried.”. Which means that there may be bacterial or other well being considerations current when your cat continues utilizing litter that has been unchanged for thus long.

An benefit to using silica litter is that it is, certainly, value-efficient for owners, since one roughly $10 box of litter can last as long as two weeks to a month’s time per cat. It’s also typically much less bother to maintain, since strong waste can be removed solely daily. Lastly, the litter box itself solely needs to be changed one to 2 times a month per cat. Nevertheless, regardless of this, it’s no inexpensive to use than a very good clumping litter for the same time interval per cat. In addition, with clumping litter, you may normally scoop just a few times per day. Though you won’t be able to flush stable waste with clumping litter as you do with silica litter, you can remove all waste (including liquid) from the field daily with clumping litter, the place you cannot with silica litter.

Finally, the sharpness of litter on cats’ feet is a concern for many owners. That is one motive many select to keep away from it. You can buy scooping letters mixed with silica to help with odor management, to be able to have some great benefits of silica without all of the disadvantages. This kind of litter can be much more snug on your pet.

Therefore, though it’s up to you to determine whether or not you wish to attempt it, silica cat litter might be not a superb possibility for many cats. The well being concerns inherent in leaving litter unchanged for as much as a month’s time are nice, as is the impact on cats’ feet. It might be best to use a combination litter that makes use of a small amount of silica together with a great clumping litter to get the identical odor-controlling outcomes, but with a lot much less potential risk to your cat’s health.

At Cattray.com you will find products, information, and resources on pestell clear choice low track silica crystals cat litter, silica dust cat litter, and silica cat litter safety.

A Good Environment for Your Cat

It is significant that you keep your environment safe for your cat, as they are very inquisitive animals and will get into all sorts of trouble given half the chance.

Living near a road can be a major concern for any cat owner, as cats love to wander around the neighborhood in search of other cats or company from other people. It is not uncommon for cats to wander a long distance particularly at night, plus the safest bet is probably to hold it confined inside at night so you know where it is.

This may require that you just hold it locked inside the home or have an external region which is fenced, in such a manner that the cat can’t climb out remembering that cats are extremely great at climbing and escaping from any enclosure.

They also will need to be protected from other animals, and in specific dogs which could become pretty vicious at the pursuit of a cat.

You definitely need to use your common sense and look in regards to the atmosphere that your cat is living in to determine any areas that could possibly be a danger to it.

Getting a cat door which will provide your cat with unrestricted access to the home is necessary for any cat that prefers to spend some of its time outside during the day or night. Cats that spend time outdoors usually supplement their diet with raw cat food.

Cats can pick up infections from other animals or from the feces that has been left about by other animals, so you should know where your cat is wandering and whether those places may very well be endangering its health in any way.

By getting your cat neutered there is less probability that it will wander around the neighborhood looking for other cats.

If your cat isn’t kept within a confined area then you will will need some form of identification on it should it ever get lost.

Cat Litter Sucks, But it Can Suck Less with Cat Litter Furniture

The subject of cat litter is not a pretty one, but if you have an inside cat, it is something that you probably have to have. The story “Everybody Poops” goes for cats too and it happens right in your home and can become a big part of your life and a constant chore.

Some homes are fortunate to have a good place to put a cat litter box that is out of the way so you don’t have to live with it most of the time. But for small apartments and other small homes, this dark side of having a cat has to be right in the middle of your living space. Maybe not in the middle, but in your living space where you have to look at it and smell it and it can be in the way.

There is a solution to this problem. It is not going to make the cat litter subject go away, cats are still going to poop and you are still going to have to do something with it. But it will help keep the whole mess out of sight and out of mind most of the time. The solution is cat litter furniture. This furniture looks like regular furniture and can be used like regular furniture. It can be made in many styles and materials including fine wood and from the outside most people will not realize it is anything different than a fine piece of furniture. But with a closer look you will see that it is designed to conceal a cat litter box inside.

This furniture is made to open up to allow easy access to the litter box for cleaning and maintaining. Yes, sorry, you are still going to have to do that. But at least most of the time it will be inside the furniture where you will not have to see or think about it. The cat hole on the side or back gives the cat easy access so it can do its thing in privacy. Some cats seem to appreciate having a private and protected place to do their business, it is hard to blame them for that.

This can be a great solution if space is tight in your home. You probably have furniture anyway, and in this case the space where a piece of furniture that you would have anyway is can double as a space for a cat litter box. When guests come over they don’t have to see this nasty litter box dominating your home and neither will you.

Cat litter boxes suck, there is not much getting around that. Learn more about how cat litter furniture can make them suck a little less.

And after the cat jumps out of the litter box and onto this landing area, most of the extra litter caught on their feet falls off inside the Kabinet, minimizing tracking outside of the Kabinet.

Our exclusive flapper door uses opaque acrylic for admitting light into the Kabinet, while trapping odors inside. The flapper is held in place by a solid wood frame that matches the side of the cabinet. This minimizes the appearance of the door, maintaining the look of fine furniture.

The bottom of the Kabinet is lined with extremely durable plastic laminate to allow for easy clean up of tracking or “accidents” outside the litter box. The Kabinet front opens up wide with two large doors, to allow for easy access for litter box and Kabinet cleaning.

We finish all our Kabinets with an environmentally friendly, heavy duty, water based, acrylic finish. This insures the well being of the cat, while allowing for a long lasting, durable finish on a beautiful piece of furniture.

Your Choice of Wood

Oak is a very hard, durable wood. It has a very predominate open grain pattern. The more porous areas of grain take stain darker than the surrounding wood, accentuating the grain pattern. Oak is a good choice when you want a bold grain pattern. It is often used in “Traditional” style settings.

Maple is also a very hard, durable wood. Unlike Oak, it as a very non-porous, closed grain wood. It takes stain evenly, with minimal grain showing. Maple is a good choice when you want a more uniform color and smooth finish. In its natural color, it is often chosen for more “Contemporary” settings.

Pine is softer and will contain solid knots. The knots are left in the furniture to replicate an “antique” effect. The knots typically stain darker than the surrounding wood. Pine looks nice in more “Country” style settings, or where you want the contrast in colors between the wood and its knots.

Custom made to order, usually leaves our warehouse in 10 – 15 business days.

Protect Your Cat From Choking With A Cat Safety Collar

Have you ever tried to get a cat to do something she doesn’t want to do? If you have ever tried to hold onto a cat who doesn’t want to be held, you know that they wiggle and twist, sometimes wildly. They are trying to get free.

Cats will also twist wildly if their collar gets caught on anything. And they can get injured or choked if they cannot get free. This is why it is so important that you use a Breakaway Cat Collar. The collar is designed so that the clasp opens if your cat becomes stuck. This avoids the risk of choking. But the collar is still used for identification if she becomes lost.

There are several different kinds of Cat Safety Collars which protect your cat. The real breakaway type cat collar allows for the clasp to open up. Another type of safety collar has elastic which pulls open in the event your cats collar get snagged on something.

You can get Breakaway Cat Collars with a assortment of other safety features. Reflective cat collars, enable someone to see your cat in the dark, particularly on a roadway. brilliantly colored cat collars also add a quantify of safety as they are more visible. Collars with bells alert you and birds when your cat is approaching.

Some cats don’t like to have collars put on, so the younger they are when you start using a collar, the better. My little girl kitty loves her collar and rubs you when it gets put on.

Regardless of the type of Cat Safety Collar you buy, make sure the clasp works well. Also, make sure that it fits your cat and is neither too loose nor too tight. And, of course, have ID tags and contact info, so that you can be contacted in case your cat gets lost. Keep your cat safe and happy. Purrrr!
