Personality Of Our Maine Coone

Domestication of Cats

Our Maine Coone, P-4 , was named by my wife. She derived the name P4 from “P for pussy cat”. I got to admit it is original . She was found out by our barn when we lived in Omaha, Ne. She had no collar so we adopted her into our home. She immediately took to me and my wife . In fact, when anyone comes over to our house she takes to them, too . This is just one of the traits of a Maine Coone . They are very sociable and want to be part of the family. Maine Coones are quite different from the normal domesticated cat.

She is also very chatty.  She likes to talk to people in cat talk. In particular when she needs something .  Like if she wants to go hang out in a wardrobe, she will walk up to the door and meow till you open it. Or if her feed bowl is empty she will meow till you figure out she needs her feed bowl filled.

I mentioned she or Maine Coones want to be part of the family.  She likes to lay in our lap and be stroked. In addition, we have a Border Collie who our Maine Coone absolutely adores. It is not uncommon to see the two of them sleeping conjointly on the lounge.

The only draw back with our Maine Coone is she gets hair balls frequently. This is because of her long hair. However we have resolved that problem by brushing her frequently. And does she love to be brushed. You can stand by the drawer that holds the brush and she is there meowing to be brushed.

We tried many hair brushes till we found the one that does an excellent job in removing cat and dog hair. It is the Furminator and does an excellent job in removing cat and dog hair. Short hair domesticated cats do not  need as frequent brushing as long hair cats.

The Ragdoll Cat Breed Is Ideal For Families

The ragdoll cat breed is one of the most famous with families. This strikingly excellent looking, long-haired cat is docile and friendly. They do not have the fighting instinct and so they love attention. This means families with other pets and kids will discover the ragdoll cat breed a perfect addition for the family.

This breed of cat is well-known due to the fact they are both social and relaxed. They do love attention and like to be where the action is. This makes them easy to train. All you’ve to do is lavish them with attention when they scratch on the cat post rather than the couch.

This breed is often a larger breed. The males can weigh in excess of 20 pounds and the females are slightly smaller. Their stunning rabbit-fur like hair is long and generally does not matt.

The ragdoll cat breed is undoubtedly an indoor cat breed. Since they lack the fighting instinct they would not defend themselves when attacked. Though some owners train them to walk on a leash, for the most part you will wish to keep them indoors.

This breed comes in 3 patterns and four colors (seal, chocolate, blue and lilac). The three patterns are:

Colorpoint – a lighter body shade, dark points within the ears, tail, face and feet, and also the nose and paw pads match the point color (the darker color).

Mitted – dark points and a lighter system similar towards the colorpoint with white mitts for the front paws and white boots for the back legs.

Bi-color – dark points for the ears and tail and an inverted “v” around the mask that runs from between the eyes into the muzzle. The system color has a “saddle-like” appearance.

This is usually a fantastic pet health care cat breed that you must think about if you like large, docile, affectionate cats.
