A cat makes a fine pet for all members of the family, including children. Cats are affectionate, delightful when sitting on your lap in the evenings and are primarily hassle free pets.
There is however a growing trend towards keeping cats indoors all day and all night, primarily because cats are excellent hunters, particularly at night but also during the day, and can terrorise all the native wildlife in the neighbourhood.

If you’re outdoors one day and have a couple of hours spare just sit and watch your cat for a while. He’ll probably go hurtling up a tree now and then and spend lots of time playing in the back garden. If you’ve never seen it before you will be stunned at how fast they can climb a tree.
